OHH!! HERE'S THE RANT!
i just wanted to share with everyone, we just finished this first half of hell- or semester, how ever you'd want to approach this terrible experience that no living creature should go though.
AND the teachers brought an Israeli artist, well known in israel for the final first semester work in the exhibitions and he said, AHEM:
"your work belongs in a shop that sells granny objects (kitsch, figurines, porcelain dolls etc) and if i was your teacher i'd flunk you after the first year"
OH! and he said that 20 years ago my work wouldn't even been accepted as ART... which i still don't understand what does that has to do with anything... 20 years ago i was 6.5... couldn't even hold a pencil..
that's why i hate it so much, all this BFA thing has been stupid and i didn't learn almost anything, most people in Arts in israel just find my art weird and well... too pretty/plastic and because it's don't dirty and doesn't look from the 70's which is the trend right now here.... for the last 40 years... it's just boring/again, weird.
well, i hope that idiot rots in hell and gets stuck in israel for the rest of his jealousy life! do you think i'm being petty for wishing him uncynical/REAL harm?
Since I try to be honest and do my best not to sugarcoat things for people, I'll say that I do think it is a bit petty to wish a person real harm, no matter how much of a jerk that person might be, especially since all he did was say a lot of stupid, ignorant words...but there are exceptions I guess. I do think that it is very reasonable to get mad though.
Like you said, it was probably jealousy speaking, so you shouldn't pay him that much attention. Could be that his style is so much different from yours and he is too close minded to open his eyes and see that not only his style is important.
Honestly, I can't see your work as granny objects-or else my image of happy grannies baking cookies will be ruined. A lot of your work has the feeling like it belongs on a film set of a horror or Tim Burton flick.
What matters is that you have a solid growing fanbase and have so many people that love your work and will support you and your art, that in itself proves that you are a true artist. Plus, you've already been commisioned before, and that would also make you a pro.
you're totally right, and thank you (:
